Have you ever floated around a Texas shaped lazy river on a rooftop in downtown Houston? I have and let me tell you, it is something that you NEED to do! Marriott Marquis features 1000 guest rooms on 29 floors and opened in December 2016. This is one hotel you have to visit.

Texas Shaped Lazy River  and Infinity Pool at Mariott Marquis

Connected by sky bridge to the George R. Brown Convention Center, the Marriott Marquis is centrally located downtown on Walker Street. The biggest (well-deserved) hype surrounding this gorgeous hotel is the Texas shaped lazy river. The lazy river along with the infinity pool and hot tub are located on the sixth floor rooftop 110 feet above street level.

The 530 feet long lazy river is 3.6 feet deep and has a gentle current that takes tubers about 15 minutes to complete the entire loop. It holds 140,000 gallons of water and overlooks Discovery Green Park. There is something majestic about floating in a Texas shaped lazy river among the Houston skyscrapers. You simply must do it! The heated infinity pool and hot tub are also located rooftop and the 24 hour fitness center overlooks the entire pool area. The High Dive Bar serves guests beer and specialty drinks. Pool hours are 6am to 10pm and are strictly enforced.

The hotel has six dining options including; Biggio’s Sports Bar, Walker Street Kitchen, Xochi by Chef Hugo Ortega, Cueva Wine Bar, Texas T Cafe, and room service. Pure is the 5000 square foot full service spa. Marriott Marquis has 150,000 square feet of meeting space, making it perfect for any event including weddings. Their 39,000 square foot ballroom is the largest in Houston.

All guest rooms are luxuriously appointed with Marriott Signature bedding, which is the ultimate in comfort. Rooms range from 355 square feet to luxury suites at 2130 square feet. We stayed in a double queen room on the 26th floor with a stunning view of Minute Maid Stadium. The room featured a 55 inch LED TV, hairdryer, work space, coffee/tea maker, and a mini fridge. The room was very comfortable and was equipped wth everything you would need.

Although the hotel is obviously quite luxurious, there was also a casual feel that we really enjoyed. This is the perfect hotel to bring the family to for the weekend and enjoy the Texas shaped lazy river, as well as all the attractions Houston has to offer. It was the ideal base for our Houston adventures. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We HIGHLY recommend a stay at the Marriott Marquis Houston. You will not be disappointed.
