Moody Gardens with its newly remodeled Aquarium Pyramid is a perfect family staycation! Luckily Moody Gardens had minimal damage from Hurricane Harvey and all attractions are currently open to the public! We were lucky enough to have visited Moody Gardens this summer and as always it was a blast with several new exhibits and 37 million dollars in improvements.

The newly remodeled Aquarium Pyramid was the highlight of the trip! Moody Gardens has been working on this improvement for several years and it was well worth it. The new exhibits include; Gulf of Mexico Rig Exhibit, Jellyfish Gallery, Mangroove Lagoon & Flower & Garden Banks. There is also a new pirate shipwreck inside the Caribbean exhibit.

We simply loved the Jellyfish Gallery, where you can touch a live jellyfish without getting stung! This was probably the most popular attraction, especially with children. They have also added a stingray touch pool, which was also very popular.

The Moody Gardens 3D Theater boosts the largest screen in the state of Texas! It also offers a state of the art surround sound system. They have a variety of shows and the daily schedule can be found on the website. We were fortune enough to see Guardians of the Galaxy 2, and it was the ultimate viewing experience.

The 4D Special FX Theater is a treat for the entire family. It offers 3D projection with seat sensors and leg ticklers. The theater releases scents, bubbles, and even snow for extra fun. Currently the theater offers two shows; Dino Island II 4D; Escape From Dinoland and Ice Age: No Time For Nuts 4D.

The Spongebob Subpants Adventure located in the Discovery Pyramid was a favorite for my niece and nephew. It is a wild and silly 3D deep sea submarine voyage. Your captain, Patrick Star is interactive and no two adventures are alike! This attraction features special effects. My niece and nephew were choosen to be be special helpers, which they loved!

The Discovery Pyramid changes exhibitions periodically. Currently it is home to DaVinci The Exhibition, which features more than 60 fully built life size inventions and dozens of stunning displays.

The Colonel Paddlewheel boat is always a favorite of mine. It is a replica of an 1800’s paddlewheel boat and takes you on an hour long cruise. Dinner and private cruises are also available. The Colonel sails daily at 2:00 pm and more frequently during the summer months.

Moody Gardens also offers several seasonal attractions. Palm Beach is open during the summer months. The Festival of Lights and Ice Land Rainforest Holiday are both wonderful holiday attractions. The Brewmaster Craft Beer Festival takes place in November.

Moody Gardens also offers golf and hotel packages, as well as animal encounters. The best way to experience Moody Gardens is with a day pass that allows you to visit all the attractions Moody Gardens has to offer. You can even upgrade those to season passes, if you wish. Moody Gardens is an excellent way to spend any day and offers something for all members of the family to enjoy.

Moody Gardens was kind enough to sponsor our trip, as always all opinions are our own.
