We will be visiting the Colosseum for a Roman Holiday in July!


Karli & I have a very exciting summer coming up and we are so thrilled to share all of our upcoming adventures with you! We start our travels close to home to take a look a few often forgotten local treasures. We will be visiting Beaumont, Port Arthur, and Orange to cover such attractions as; the Fire Museum of Texas, Gator Country, the Museum of the Gulf Coast, Sea Rim State Park, Shangra La, & the Stark Museum.

Then we will be traveling to Lake Charles for a stay at L’Auberge Casino Resort in Lake Charles to see all that the stunning resort has to offer. L’Auberge Casino Resort is not only for gamblers, it offers something for everyone in the family. The resort has a lazy river pool, spa, golf course, fine dining options, and even a video arcade for the younger visitors.

Then we head to the Bayou City to see what family fun Houston holds. We will travel to the Houston Zoo and see the hundreds of animals that call the zoo home. We will explore the Houston Museum of Natural Science and the wonders of Space Center Houston. Kemah Boardwalk is another can’t miss attraction in the Houston area.

Galveston offers countless attractions for local families and thrill seekers, and we will be taking them all in! The pyramids at Moody Gardens are a must for every family with the newly remodeled Aquarium, the Rainforest, Discovery Pyramid, 3D Imax, Colonel Paddleboat, and Palm Beach. It is the perfect way to spend a summer day. Galveston also offer Harbor Tours, Bishop’s Palace, Moody Mansion, & Seawolf Park. We will be checking them all out and blogging our experiences right here!

At the end of June we head to the Sunshine State for some theme park fun! As we have written about before, Karli and I love Harry Potter! We will be heading to Universal Studios to spend some time at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. We will be staying at Holiday Inn Across from Universal and sharing all our tips and strategies for getting the most out of the parks.

While we are in the area, we will also be visiting the Orlando Eye, Madame Tussaud’s, and the Sealife Orlando Aquarium.

On our last day in Florida we will be at Legoland Theme Park and Legoland Waterpark, with a stay at the Legoland Hotel. We are super excited to visit Legoland as it will be a first for both of us.

The highlight of the summer comes in late July when we travel to the Eternal City, Rome. We will see all the usual tourists attractions including the Colosseum, Vatican City, and Trevi Fountain. Thanks to Walks of Italy, we will also be seeing some of the off the beaten path gems as well. We are fortunate enough to have a Scavi Tour booked. We will be one of only 200 people on our tour day to descend the steps underneath St. Peter’s Basilica and see the tomb of St. Peter.

  2. Looking forward to meeting you Kimberly and your daughter at the Museum of the Gulf Coast today. I the director and some of our local friends mentioned that you would be coming by. I would love the opportunity to show you the range of subject areas our museum covers. Before Early Man, Paleo Indians, Cabeza de vaca, Attakapas American Indians along with American pop culture in Music, Art and Sports icons that came for here and this Gulf Coast Region. Greats such as Janis Joplin, ZZ Top, George Jones, JP Richardson “The Big Bopper”, Edgar and Johnny Winter as part of over 70 music icons in our Music Hall of Fame Exhibit. In Art, the father of Pop-Art, Robert Rauschenberg. Also our Sport Hall of Fame that includes Coach Jimmy Johnson, Wade Phillips, Jamaal Charles, Bubba Smith, Matt Bryant, Jordan Babineaux, Babe Zaharias, Chris Stroud, Bum Phillips just to mention a few. On average we have visitors from between 15 to 20 foreign countries and between 33-40 states every month.
